The CloserCheck rubric

Every listing is scored out of 100. We only score what the posting says in writing. If it isn't written down, it scores zero. Commission-only and base + commission roles use slightly different checks.

Commission-only roles (6 checks)

Criterion	Points	Full marks when…
Pay clarity	20	Commission rate AND the trigger (e.g. 'paid on collected revenue') are stated in writing.
Payment timing	15	Says when you get paid (e.g. within 14 days, twice monthly). Partial: 5 if only 'monthly residuals'.
Lead support	15	Company provides leads/appointments (15), some support (10), or you self-source (0).
No upfront cost	20	No fee for training, kits, licenses-to-company, leads or software. Any required payment = automatic F.
Verifiable employer	15	Named company with a website/registration (15), named only (10), anonymous (0).
Honest expectations	15	Admits income isn't guaranteed (15). Deduct for hype income claims, 'no experience needed' riches, or multi-level recruiting overrides (5 or 0).

Base + commission roles (7 checks)

Criterion	Points	Full marks when…
Base stated	15	The base salary or hourly amount (or a range) is written in the posting. 5 if only a total comp range is given.
Commission clarity	15	Commission rate, OTE or variable amount stated (15 for rate/amount + OTE, 10 for OTE only, 5 for 'uncapped' with no figure).
Payment timing	10	Says when commission/bonus is paid.
Lead support	10	Leads, inbound calls, an assigned book or a lead-gen team are provided.
No upfront cost	20	No fee to start. Any required payment = automatic F.
Verifiable employer	15	Named company with a website (15), named only (10), anonymous (0).
Honest expectations	15	Average/target earnings stated plainly. Deduct for top-earner-only claims or hype.

Grades

Grade	Score	Meaning
A	85+	Transparent and low-risk on paper
B	70+	Mostly clear; ask about the gaps
C	55+	Real gaps; get terms in writing first
D	40+	Several red flags
F	<40	Avoid

Override rules

Automatic F: the posting asks you to pay for training, a starter kit, leads, or software.
Capped at B: anonymous employer (no company name), however good the rest looks.
Commission-only and 1099 are not red flags by themselves. Hiding the terms is.
Listings are re-checked weekly; companies can send corrections and we'll re-score them publicly.
